Barlestone Youth 2 Quorn Juniors 1
In a closely fought game against the league leaders Quorn, Barlestone Youth produced an excellent team performance to leap frog above the visitors into top spot. In the early stages, both teams' defences held the upper hand, but it was the home side who produced the better football. Half time was reached at 0 - 0. However, it was the visitors who started the second half the better and only a good save from Josh Garrigan prevented Barlestone conceeding. 2 free kicks in quick succession saw Charlie Cunningham produce excellent deliveries that beat the Quorn defence. The first bounced over the keeper and the second floated past his despairing dive. Barlestone continued to dominate and it was somewhat against the run of play when the visitors scored a late consolation goal to set up a tense final few minutes.
Barlestone's Man-of-the-Match was Nathan Jeffery.

Barlestone 3 Stanton Utd 2
Barlestone's patched up side missing a number of regular players cruised to a 3 - 0 half time lead thanks to strikes from George Johnson, his 40th league goal of the season, Matt Burns and a penalty from Man-of-the-Match, Joe Waterfield. Changes were made to the home side early in the second half and this gave the visitors the stimulus to attack. Barlestone could have increased their lead, but it was Stanton who scored twice to leave the game delicately poised and the home side hanging on at the end for the 3 - 2 victory. Taking into account other results Barlestone now find themselves 2nd in the league with the title still within their grasp.

Barlestone Youth 5 Barwell Athletic 0
In the first half, the home side struggled to come to terms with a bobbly pitch and the visitors fought hard but themselves didnt create a chance in the first 35 minutes. Half time was reached at 0 - 0. The 2nd period saw Barlestone dominate and the goals soon came. Midfielder Joe Waterfield pounced for a brace, Liam Taberner scored an overdue goal to put the game beyond the visitors and congratulations go to Greg Jackson who scored his maiden goal for the club. Barwell also had the humiliation of scoring an own goal when a back pass to the keeper received an "air-kick" and the ball bobbled over the line. 5 - 0 was a fair reflection on the game as Barlestone maintain pressure on the teams above them.
Defender Daniel Boulton was named Man-of-the-Match.

Quorn Juniors 4 Barlestone Youth 7
Barlestone produced a magnificent second half display away at league leaders, Quorn, turning round a 4 - 2 deficit.
The first half was very even with both sides showing defensive frailties. The visitors led twice with goals from George Johnson and Matt Burns, yet still found themselves 3 - 2 down at half time. The problems were made worse by another defensive error letting Quorn in to take a 2 goal lead early in the second half.
However, this team are nothing if not fighters and a never-say-die attitude saw them claw their way back into the game with 2 more goals from Matt Burns making his debut as striker. George Johnson added 2 more and Matt Horn acrobatically lobbed the keeper to make the final score 4 - 7.
Man-of-the-Match was Matt Burns for a whole hearted display.

Melton Foxes 3 Barlestone 0
In a game played on a hard surface and with an icy, strong wind to contend with, Barlestone never quite attained the standard of play seen earlier in the season. Having said that, the visitors still had numerous chances to put the game beyond the home side. As it was, Melton reached half time 2 goals to the good thanks to assistance from Barlestone's midfield and defence.
In an attempt to change things Barlestone played with three up front in the second half but despite creating more chances, nothing would go in and with the visitors commiting more and more players to attack, Melton broke out in the last minute to score their third. The final scoreline flattered the home side but Barlestone have only themselves to blame.

Barwell Athletic 0 Barlestone Youth 4
In an untidy first half, Barlestone dominated play but failed to convert any of the chances they created. The half was marred by repeated verbal abuse from one of the home midfielders who taunted the Barlestone players, the management team and the visiting supporters. Playing uphill in the second half Barlestone played some excellent close football and deservedly took the lead although Joe Waterfield's tame shot should have been dealt with by the Barwell keeper who let it through his legs. Josh Garrigan in the visitor's goal had little to do as Barlestone kept pressing and it was little surprise when George Johnson increased the lead to 3 - 1 with a pair of goals before substitute Matt Burns scored the 4th. An excellent all round team performance was only spoilt by the Barwell management's refusal to condemn the actions of their aggresive midfielder, who was eventually booked for his actions. The whole Barlestone squad won Man-of-the-Match for playing so well and keeping a cool head in a fiery cauldron!

Highfield Rangers 2 Barlestone Youth 4
The visitors again started poorly. The pre-Christmas "zip" was certainly absent once again. However a good 10 minute spell mid-way through the first half saw the goal of the match from Liam Pallett, following a sweeping end-to-end move and later a George Johnson strike to give them a 2 - 0 lead. Highfield Rangers battled well and deservedly got a goal back on the stroke of half time. Barlestone improved in the second half and once again established a 2 goal cushion with efforts from David Roberts and a second from George. The home side rallied again to peg one back, but Barlestone held on for a deserved victory.
Defender Luke Riggall was named Man-of-the-Match.

Barlestone 3 Enderby 3
The Christmas lay-off didn't do Barlestone any favours as they produced a lacklustre performance against an improving Enderby side. The visitors opened the scoring from a long range shot after a poor goal kick. Barlestone rallied and top scorer George Johnson ran through to equalise. However, the rest of the first half belonged to Enderby and they reached half-time with a healthy 3 - 1 lead. The home side dug deep and battled better in the 2nd half. 2 more goals from George Johnson brought the scores level and a frantic last 10 minutes saw chances for both sides to take all the points, but in the end a draw was probably a fair result.
Barlestone Man-of-the-Match was defender Nathan Jeffery.

Friar Lane 4 Barlestone 3
Barlestone strugggled from the kick off and left themselves a mountain to climb when they conceded 3 goals in the first 20 minutes, 2 of which were 'gifts' from the visitor's defence. However, a spirited fightback saw George Johnson sneek a goal just before half time to make the score 3 - 1. The pressure was all from Barlestone and George hit a superb strike in the 2nd half to narrow the deficit to one goal only to see the home side break out and snatch another. Half way through the second half George scored his hat-trick goal and thats how the scored stayed til the end. In the dying minutes Barlestone hit the bar and had a perfectly good goal disallowed by the biased ref whowas responsible for spoiling a good game. He made many crucial decisions in favour of the home team and was totally blatant in denying Barlestone a deserved equaliser.

Lge Cup Round 2
Barlestone Youth 2 Groby Juniors 5
Barlestone put in a spirited 2nd half performance, but sadly it wasnt enough to salvage anything other than pride from the league cup encounter against Division 1 Groby Juniors.
Groby started the better and 3 defensive lapses gifted them goals in the first 15 minutes. By half time Barlestone were 5 - 0 down and looking a beaten team. With only pride at stake they rallied in the second half and took the game to their opponents. Jake Wibberley scored with a long range speculative effort. He followed that up with a 2nd when the Groby keeper handled outside the area conceding a free kick. As Groby tried to arrange a defensive wall the ref gave Barlestone permission to take the kick and Jake chipped the ball into the top corner.
The Barlestone Man-of-the-Match was Joe Waterfield for another dominant performance in midfield

Under-14s
Loughborough Youth 0 Barlestone 2
On a small and bumpy pitch, Barlestone struggled to come to terms with a competitive home side. In a largely uneventful first half, neither goalkeeper was really troubled and the whistle went with the score at 0 - 0. Changes were made to the visitor's line up and this paid dividends in the first minute after the re-start when George Johnson beat the offside trap to slot the ball home. The home side, despite their lowly position -played some good football and were nearly gifted an equaliser as the Barlestone defence stood still. However, from a Charlie Cunningham corner the visitors went further ahead as George Johnson pounced at the back post to force the ball home. The visitors had a number of other chances to increase the lead, particularly from David Roberts, Matt Horn, Liam Pallett and George Johnson, but failed to capitalise on good approach play. Jake Wibberley was voted Man-of-the-Match by the visito's parents.

County Cup Round 2
Barlestone 1 Leicester Nirvana 5
Playing the top side in the county at this age group didn't deter Barlestone from playing at the high standard they have set themselves in recent weeks, and all this after conceding an early goal to a superb strike from the edge of the box.
Resolute defending from the back 4, but in particular Nathan Jeffery and Tom Measom kept high flying Nirvana at bay and Barlestone scored a deserved equaliser from George Johnson mid way through the first half, after possibly the best move of the game. The home side can count themselves unlucky not to take the lead when George narrowly missed in a one-on-one with the Nirvana keeper. However, it was the visitors who sneeked into a half time lead. In the second half Barlestone continued to work hard at closing their opponenets down and only when the legs of midfield duo Jake Wibberley and Joe Waterfield began to tire did the visitor's superior skills take over and they scored three more goals. Barlestone can take great pride in competing so well against Nirvana who were flattered by the 4 goal margin. Nathan Jeffery was awarded the Man-of-the-Match award for a string of good performances

U14s League Cup
Bushby Utd 1 Barlestone Youth 7
Barlestone turned in another highly creitable performance away at 2nd Division Bushby to claim a place in the last 16 of the competition. The first half was very competitive with the visitor's George Johnson having the only clear chance, but a good save from the Bushby keeper kept the score 0 - 0 at half time. In the 2nd half, two excellent deliveries into the box from Man-of-the-Match Charlie Cunningham led to 2 own goals and Barlestone were on their way. Further strikes from George Johnson (2), Liam Pallett (2) and a 25-yard drive from Matt Horn with a solitary reply from the home side produced a final score of 7 - 1 in the visitor's favour. Barlestone continue to produce some excellent football at times and thoroughly deserve the success they are enjoying at present.

Barlestone u-14s 6 Highfield Rangers 2
The home side produced a first half display that reinforced their good form of recent weeks. Playing some excellent passing football they reached half time 4 goals to the good thanks to strikes from George Johnson (2), David Roberts and another 25 yard effort from Jake Wibberley.
This enabled three substitutes to be given a run - out to maintain squad match fitness, and they all contributed something to the game. Further goals from David Roberts and Charlie Cunningham with 2 replies from the visitors saw Barlestone to a comfortable victory. They maintain the pressure on the league leaders.
Jake Wibberley was voted Man-of-the-Match.

Barlestone U-14s 4 Measham Welfare U-14s 1
Barlestone continued their run of fine form with a battling first half display in the County Cup against previously unbeaten Measham Welfare. The home side was missing key player Joe Waterfield but nevertheless outplayed their higher league opponents in the midfield and led 4 - 0 at half time thanks to a super strike from Jake Wibberley and another hat-trick from George Johnson.
The second half saw a more spirited performance from the visitors who clawed a goal back late on, but it was Barlestone, with some stout defending, who held on for another great victory.
Defender Tom Measom was Man-of-the-Match for a string of top performances in recent games.
