Medbourne 7 BSGYFC 0
Our last game of the season and not the result we wanted, we started well in this game with the first 25 minutes providing a very tight game of football with both sides playing well. 25 minutes in Josh burst through and hit a shot low to the keepers right side which produced a cracking save and Greg followed this chance up and hit the post, at this stage it was looking good however the following minute saw Medbourne break away and take the lead. This looked like being the score line at the break however Medbourne broke through in first half injury time to net the second goal. The second half saw Medbourne start strong and 2 minutes in they extended their lead, unusually we let our heads drop and the home side rattled in four more goals in quick succession to put the game beyond any doubt.
Let’s go away and regroup ready for the pre season ahead.
Well done all this season we’ve managed a few wins and have had many good performances along the way, you should all be proud of your efforts.

BSGYFC 7 Markfield Colts 0
Our last home game of the season ended with a superb win against Markfield.
We started strongly and 3 minutes in Josh broke through to open the scoring, Duran added the second 3 minutes later with a cool finish. 2 minutes later and Duran broke through again to put a good quality drive away for his second of the match. We were now in complete control and 3 minutes later Duran now full of confidence rounded off his hat trick. We then had to wait for 15 minutes for the next goal when Greg pounced on some slack defending to add the fifth. Half time changes included Luke Grewcock having a run up front for the second half and we quickly settled again to keep in control of the game. With 44 minutes on the clock Josh broke through and superbly lobbed the advancing keeper, then 9 minutes later superb play from first Tom and then a superb cross from Lewis was met with a brilliant diving header from Josh to round off his hat trick and the scoring.
I’ll leave you to decide who’s was the best hat trick – from where I was standing they were both absolutely brilliant.
A great finish to our season of home games on the road, just a tricky trip to Medbourne left.
Great performance lads – well done.

Kirby Muxloe 88 FC 5 BSGYFC 2
Well what can I say other than sorry! I was toying with two different starting line ups and picked the wrong one meaning that we suffered an awful first six minutes conceding three early goals. A switch was made which led to us settling down and then started to play the better football and control the game. A minute from half time Duran made a super break from the halfway line which led to a corner. This caused chaos in the Kirby box and Danny seized on this and netted to give us some hope at half time. The second half started brightly with us playing most of the football and controlling the game however Kirby always looked dangerous with their pace up front and two further goals put us 5-1 behind. In the 46th minute Danny again netted following confusion in the Kirby box after more good build up from us. We continued to create chances right to the end but could not convert into any more goals.
A very good fighting performance after the initial spell which left us too much to do.

Wigston Rangers 0 BSGYFC 4
We continued our good form with a solid performance against a Wigston side confident after they achieved their first league win last week.
Right from the kick off we went on the attack and dominated play however it took until 13 minutes for the first goal to arrive with Tom breaking through and finishing low in the bottom corner. Tom added another 4 minutes later with another strike low into the corner rounding off another good move. Changes were made at half time to give everybody a run and this paid off when in the 39th minute the ball broke to the edge of the penalty box and an unmarked Luke Wayne drove home a superb shot for his first goal in Barlestone colours. We had another first when 8 minutes later Tom rounded off his first hat trick to give us a hugely satisfactory end to the game.
A really good all round performance with all squad members playing their part – clean sheet and 3 points – what more can we ask for?
3 games left to go - anyone fancy an unbeaten run to the end of the season???

BSGYFC Under 12’s 2 Medbourne 3
A super battling performance with only 11 players available was not enough to earn a deserved draw in today’s game. The game was only 26 seconds old when Medbourne went ahead and the next 10 minutes or so looked ominous until we settled ourselves and started to play some football. With 22 minutes on the watch Duran played Tom in with a super pass and Tom cheekily played it past the keeper and slotted home to bring us back in the game. Medbourne’s keeper then helped keep them in the game with a number of smart saves before half time. The second half started as the first had finished and two minutes in Duran’s superb delivery from a free kick created another chance which Tom put away. Medbourne however weren’t finished and then took control of the game and after 36 minutes levelled the game again. Medbourne were now in the ascendency and created numerous chances with their winner coming 7 minutes later. Try as we did we couldn’t create any further chances to equalise.
Keep it up and we should get some rewards from our remaining 4 games.

Markfield Colts 0 BSGYFC 7
We got back to winning ways with an excellent team performance against a struggling Markfield Colts side only able to field 10 players. Our early pressure and quality passing finally told when Danny slotted home in the 23rd minute; Danny added his second two minutes before the break to give the half time score line a more realistic feel. Three changes were made at the break enabling us to give some of the lads a rest and Josh and Duran soon got to work tormenting the home defence. Josh put us further ahead after 42 minutes with a low drive from distance but this was to be bettered later... Lewis then added another goal with the aid of a deflection 6 minutes later. On 52 minutes Josh picked the ball up and worked himself into a position where he unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside of the box – great strike. Danny then rounded off his hat trick to put us 6 up in the 55th minute, with Duran getting in on the act with a minute left with a low drive inside the near post to complete the scoring and give us a thoroughly deserved 7-0 victory. It was great to see the enjoyment and confidence return throughout the game. I hope you all agree it felt good to get back to winning and let’s keep working away and see if we can finish the season with a positive run.

Friar Lane & Epworth 2 BSGYFC 6
Barlestone travelled to Friar Lane and Epworth today and comfortably brushed aside their opponents with a superb team performance. Playing on the Midland Football Alliance standard pitch seemed to suit us perfectly with the size of the pitch helping the pace of our side. We started superbly with a great shape and lots of neat football being played, our reward was to come in the 18th minute when a super run down the left side from Duran caused chaos in the home defence and Danny put away the loose ball. 3 minutes later Danny was put through and coolly slotted home his second to give us a 2-0 half time lead.
The second half started like a whirlwind with Danny scoring his third goal after just a minute and Friar Lane hit back instantly to reduce the arrears. We weren’t however about to collapse and 2 minutes later Duran finally got reward for his running and hard work with our fourth goal. Four minutes later it was Josh’s turn to get in on the act with his penetrating run and shot putting us 5 up. Friar Lane hit back again with their second but Danny rounded off the scoring after 57 minutes to claim his fourth goal of the game to round off a superb 6-2 victory.
What can we say other than fantastic work from everybody and great reward for your efforts as even without any substitutes we never looked under threat and saw it through right to the end.
2 games undefeated now and if we continue like that then so much to look forward to.

Barlestone St Giles Youth Under 12’s 3 Kirby Muxloe 88 Under 12’s 3
An entertaining afternoon of football was served up today, we went behind against the run of play after 13 minutes but 2 minutes later Duran Cummins slotted home to even things up. The remainder of the 1st half was played out with no further goals scored. Kirby came out strong in the 2nd half and managed to score two goals in the first 11 minutes, however a reshuffle in the line up seemed to open the game up for us and 5 minutes later Tom Bennett reduced the scoreline to 2-3. By now we were playing some good football and with our tails up Lewis Gaskell pulled us back level after 51 minutes. The remainder of the match was end to end with both sides creating opportunities to score a winner.
Super fighting performance showing our team spirit to come from behind twice – keep it going lads.

Birstall United 7 BSGYFC U12’s 1
Despite the score line Barlestone put up a superb performance in today’s County Cup match against our Division 1 opponents. 2 goals in the first 8 minutes looked ominous but in the 12th minute Josh “David Beckham” Burbank stepped up to score a spectacular free kick from well outside the box to give us hope, this was short-lived however as by half time we were trailing 5-1, little reward for the hard work put in by all. The second half saw a superb defensive display restricting Birstall to just two more goals where everyone did their bit for the cause.
Let’s take the positives from this performance, and there were plenty, and take them on for future games.
The referees comments to Tom and Danny at the end said it all!

BSGYFC 0 Kingsway Rangers 8
What a difference a week makes, after being unlucky last week we got taught a hard lesson today from a well organised and hungry Kingsway Rangers side.
The first half passed with a steady stream of goals meaning that we went into the break 6-0 down. The half time team talk seemed to focus us a little more as we limited the opposition to 2 further goals during the 2nd half with us showing more commitment and belief. The last 12 minutes of the game remained goalless with us playing some decent football at times.
Let’s put this game behind us and take the commitment and belief shown during the 2nd half into future games.

GNG FC 4 BSGYFC U12’s 3
How cruel can football be?
Barlestone put in a super performance today but came away from this game without any points despite deserving far more.
After a shaky start we started to play our football and 17 minutes in, Lewis Gaskell finished neatly at the far post leaving us 1-0 up at the break. The 2nd half started and after 24 seconds of play GNG found themselves level and 2 minutes later they went ahead, this served to stir the lads who then played the best football of the game with first Duran Cummins breaking through and calmly finishing after 46 minutes and then 3 minutes later Courtney Gell unleashed an unstoppable drive from the right hand side of the box.

Harborough Town 94 FC 2 BSGYFC 1
Barlestone travelled to Harborough today with only 11 available players and battled hard and didn’t deserve to come away with a narrow defeat.
The first half started well with the makeshift line up adapting well however the home team scored two goals in the 20th and 23rd minute both against the run of play leaving us with a battle on our hands. In the 29th minute Duran Cummins latched on to a through ball and rounded the keeper to net a morale boosting goal just before the break.
The second half saw Barlestone push hard for a goal but despite what seemed like endless pressure even with 10 men for a large part of the half after Courtney Gell’s injury we did not get any goals that our play deserved.
Well done lads your efforts deserved at least a point but that’s football.

BSGYFC 2 Barwell Athletic 2008 FC 4
Another pleasing performance in awful conditions against a Barwell side from two divisions above us and on the back of a 6-1 victory at the weekend.
Kicking against a strong gusting wind in the first half, the team defended superbly against a strong Barwell side to go into the break only 1-0 down.
Barwell started the 2nd half strongly adapting to the conditions well and soon made it 2-0, the lads however did not let their heads drop and soon pulled it back to 2-1 with Courtney Gell latching on to a through ball and superbly finishing low into the corner from well outside the 18 yard box.
Barwell came again and added two further goals to go 4-1 up however we weren’t finished yet as we pressed and gained a corner kick from which Harry May eventually netted to make it 4-2.
Another great show from everyone with us finishing strongly once again despite the deteriorating conditions.

BSGYFC Under 12’s 2 Saffron Dynamo 0
Our first game of the season at our new home ground for this season saw a fine battling display ending with a 2-0 victory over an organised Saffron Dynamo side. The first goal came in the 29th minute with Lewis Gaskell netting at the far post. Ross Parsell sealed the victory with a 58th minute strike taking the pressure off after a lengthy spell of resolute Barlestone defending.
Excellent display from everybody, you all fought really hard to keep the clean sheet with a determined display made all the better considering that we had no substitutes following Courtney’s injury early on in the first half.
A great start to the season, keep working hard and believing in each other and we’ll continue to reap the rewards.
