Netherhall Diamonds ’U’ 10’s 4 Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 1 Barlestone travelled to play Netherhall Diamonds in their final league game of the season hoping to complete the double over their hosts and, in the process, finish in third place in Division 7. Netherhall, though, had other ideas and with Barlestone missing two players the home team won comfortably by four goals to one. The game itself was played on a sloping pitch with long grass and with the home side playing downhill in the first half they soon took the game to their visitors. It was Barlestone, though, who had the first chance when the keeper saved well from a Joseph Allen shot after only three minutes. Netherhall then started to control the game and, with Barlestone struggling to get out of their half, began to pepper the Barlestone goal with long shots. Adam Pettitt was forced into making a great save from one long range shot, pushing the ball on to the post before it was cleared for a corner whilst another shot whistled just past the post. Eventually the pressure told when a Neth erhall player collected the ball in midfield and struck it from around twenty yards into the top corner for a great finish. Soon afterwards, with a Netherhall forward bearing down on him Pettitt came out of his goal quickly to force the player to shoot wide. Dylan Lang and Cameron Lightfoot were working hard in defence to keep the opposition out whilst at the other end Barlestone were finding it difficult to create any clear-cut chances although, following a long shot from Lightfoot, the home keeper had to be alert to save from Allen again. Just when it looked like Barlestone were going to go into the interval only one goal behind Netherhall scored when a long shot was deflected into the top corner for a fortunate goal. Playing downhill in the second half Barlestone were hoping to take advantage of the slope and after two minutes they reduced the arrears when, from a Tommy Mellor corner, Tom Devonshire poked the ball home from close range. With Barlestone looking for an equaliser the home side started to rely on counter-attacks and Pettitt, on two occasions had to save smartly from opposition shots. He was finally beaten though with a low shot from inside the box to give Netherhall a two goal cushion again. Jack Brown and Karl Crofts were working tirelessly in midfield, and together with Allen and Mellor tried hard to get a goal back; it was Lightfoot who came the closest when he shot just wide from around fifteen yards after good play by Allen set up the chance. Netherhall cont inued to break in numbers and at pace and with four minutes to go they made the game safe when a shot hit the underside of the bar and dropped just over the line. There was enough time however, for man of the match Pettitt to make another great save before the final whistle went. Although the result today was disappointing the lads can be proud of what they have achieved this season. Having been promoted five divisions it has been a great effort to finish in the top four in Division seven with only a small pool of players to choose from. Well done lads from all the parents.

St Andrews Swifts ’U’ 10’s 1 Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 2
Barlestone travelled to play St Andrews in their penultimate league game of the season looking to increase their unbeaten league run to six games. St Andrews, although bottom of the table, had picked up their first point of the season the previous week which would no doubt give them some confidence going into the game. The match itself started at a brisk pace but, after a few minutes, it became clear that the strong swirling wind and bumpy, uneven pitch were going to make it difficult to play good football. Even so, Barlestone had the first chance when Joseph Allen turned well on the edge of the box to set up Tommy Mellor, but his first time shot went wide of the near post. The game then became end to end with both sides attempting to play football on the difficult surface. Karl Crofts and Allen trying hard, without any joy, to create openings. Midway through the half Adam Pettitt made his first real save when he came out sharply to clear with his feet and then, soon after, an opposing forward shot just over the bar from the edge of the box. Both midfields were tackling hard, however due to th e conditions tackles were misjudged by both sides resulting in the play being stopped on a number of occasions. Just when it looked like the half was going to end nil-nil Barlestone scored. A good move down the right ended with Mellor cutting the ball back to the edge of the box where Cameron Lightfoot’s first shot was blocked, however his second attempt found the back of the net off a defender to give his team the lead.
The second half started with Barlestone looking to increase their lead. This, they did, when Tom Devonshire touched the ball home from close range after the keeper dropped Jack Brown’s cross. St Andrews, though, pulled a goal back almost immediately when, following a cross from the right, the centre forward placed the ball past a diving Pettitt into the bottom corner for a super finish. Defenders Dylan Lang and Jack Richards made sure the opposition were kept at distance with no-nonsense clearances and strong tackles whilst at the other end Barlestone created some good opportunities; Lightfoot shot over the bar with a free kick and both Zack Storino and Allen shot wide from good positions. Mellor’s corners were causing problems too and it looked only a matter of time before a third goal would come. The conditions, though, won in the end and there were no further goals although it took a brave save from the home keeper at Allens feet in the final minute to keep the score-line the same.
I can only finish by saying that today8 0s game was not for the connoisseur, in the end it was all about the result. With one game to go Barlestone are in fourth place in Division 7. A great incentive for the lads is that a win in the final game will promote them to third place. Come on boys you can do it !!

Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 1 Barrow Town Hawks ‘U’ 10’s 1 Barlestone St Giles extended their unbeaten run to five games this weekend when they held runaway league leaders Barrow Town Hawks to a one all draw. Barrow, who had beaten Barlestone by two goals to one in the opening game of the season, had won ten of their eleven league games to date, and had drawn the other game, so the lads knew before the start that nothing less than 100% effort would do. Under darkening skies the game started with Barlestone taking the game to their visitors. It was no surprise when they took the lead after only two minutes when Cameron Lightfoot played a long ball forward to Karl Crofts, who turned sharply and hit a low shot towards goal; the keeper saved well but the ball fell to Joseph Allen who struck the rebound into the far corner. This stung Barrow into action and the game became a midfield battle with both sides tackling hard, but fair, in an aim to gain the initiative. Jack Brown and Tom Devonshire showed neat touches in midfield, and together with Zack=2 0Storino attempted to create chances for forwards Allen, Crofts and Tommy Mellor. Barrow, though, showed why they were top by defending well in numbers. Midway through the half a speculative long shot by Barrow was comfortably held by goalkeeper Adam Pettitt for his only save of the half. The only other dangerous moment for the home side came in the final minute of the half when a low shot from the right went across the face of goal with no opposition forward close enough to take advantage. Barrow started the second half the better side, moving the ball well through the midfield, and they equalised early in the half when a penalty was awarded for a foul in the box. Keeper Pettitt saved the initial shot with his foot but the ball fell kindly for the penalty taker who scored easily from the rebound. Barlestone were now under a lot of pressure and Brown, Devonshire and Storino had to work hard in midfield to get any decent ball. It also took some no-nonsense defending from Dylan Lang, Jack Richards and Lightfoot to keep the opposition out during this period, in which Pettitt twice had to come out of his goal quickly to clear dangerous situations. Following a shot from point blank range Pettitt then made a superb save with an outstretched foot to keep his side level. To their credit the home side kept competing but, although they worked tirelessly in the final few minutes, they could not find a way through the solid Barrow defence. The final score-line was a fair=2 0result and both sides could be satisfied with their performance. Barlestone continue to stay in the top four in the division and with two games to go are looking to finish the season in a very respectable position. Today the whole team deserve credit for the way they played against a very good Barrow team.

March 1st 2009 Birstall Cubs ‘U’ 10’s 2 Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 2 Barlestone continued their league programme with a game at Birstall. They were hoping to extend their unbeaten league run to four games and also, in the process, gain revenge for a one nil home defeat by the same team earlier in the season. The game kicked off with the home side playing downhill and for the first few minutes play was end to end. Eventually after seven minutes the deadlock was broken when, from a quick break out of defence, Joseph Allen scored from close in after Karl Crofts had had his shot saved by the home keeper. Barlestone continued to attack and mid-way through the half Zack Storino shot just over the bar from twelve yards out and then Tommy Mellor shot past the far post following a neat pass by Crofts. Birstall, however, looked dangerous when they counter attacked and it took some stout defending by Dylan Lang, Jack Richards and Cameron Lightfoot to keep the home side at bay. After fifteen minutes though Birstall equalised after a swift move through the centre resulted in an easy tap in. Then, a couple of minutes later, they won a free kick in a dangerous situation; the centre back struck the ball towards goal, however Storino bravely headed the ball clear to keep the scores level. Just when it looked like the teams would finish the half on level terms Barlestone took the lead. Storino won the ball in midfield and played in Crofts who buried a low shot into the bottom corner giving the home keeper no chance. The home side started the second half the better team, and Adam Pettitt had to be alert to push away a difficult high cross. A free kick from Birstall flew just past the post and a last ditch tackle from Storino saved an almost certain goal as the home side kept pressing for an equaliser. At the other end the home keeper saved well at the feet of Allen as Barlestone worked tirelessly to get a third goal. Jack Brown and Tom Devonshire were working hard in midfield to create an opening for forwards Allen and Mellor but the home side defended well. With around ten minutes to go Birstall drew level when the ball was played in from the right, over the defence, at pace and flew in off the far post for a deserved equaliser. The home side then took the game to Barlestone and won a number of corners, however the defence held firm. In the end Barlestone could have won the game when, in the final minute, Storino set up Crofts who shot first time but just wide of the post with the keeper stranded. The final whistle went soon after with a draw probably a fair result. The supporters from both sides enjoyed a good game of football today. The result was in doubt until the final whistle and both teams deserve credit for playing the game in the right spirit. Well done lads yet again.

Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 6 Anstey Dynamo ‘U’ 10’s 1 Following last weeks fine win at Epworth, Barlestone continued their winning ways by defeating Anstey Dynamo by six goals to one and, in doing so, completed the double over their opponents. It must be said that both sides deserved a great deal of credit in providing a good game of football in freezing temperatures and, at times, horizontal driving snow. Barlestone set about Anstey from the first minute, moving the ball quickly across the pitch; Jack Brown in particular setting up a number of good attacking positions with quick ball down the right wing to his forwards. Tom Devonshire was also linking up well with Tommy Mellor on the left and it was from a Mellor cross that Joseph Allen shot just wide after ten minutes. Allen made no mistake a couple of minutes later, though, to give the home side the lead. It soon became two nil when Karl Crofts shot past the opposing keeper, and then three nil when a shot from Zack Storino was deflected into the net by a defender. Anstey were playing their part in a fine game, but the home defence of Dylan Lang, Jack Richards and Cameron Lightfoot defended well restricting their opponents to half chances. Crofts went close again before half time when he beat the keeper to a through ball but placed his shot just past the near pos t. It was left to Anstey’s keeper to make two fine saves before the half time whistle went. The visitors dominated the early exchanges of the second half and won a number of corners from which they were unlucky not to score. Desperate defending by the home side and a couple of fine saves by Adam Pettitt continued to keep the visitors at bay until, from a breakaway, Mellor crossed from the right for Crofts to score his second of the match to put the home side four nil in front. Anstey deservedly pulled a goal back a couple of minutes later when the ball eluded Pettitt to give an opposition forward a simple tap-in. This spurred the visitors on, however with Richards and Lang tackling with their normal venom and Lightfoot clearing his lines with some effective long distance passes, there was little to trouble the home keeper. Brown, Devonshire and Storino were moving the ball well in midfield and, after the latter had hit the post mid-way through the half, Allen made it five one with a clinical finish from inside the box. Due to the freezing conditions with five minutes left to play Pettitt was replaced in goal by Lang who soon had to make a fine save from a corner, pushing the ball onto the crossbar before catching the ball as it dropped. Despite the score-line the visitors heads never dropped and they continued to fight for every ball. It was the home side who finished off the scoring though; Lightfoot’s shot from outside the box being touched home at the fa r post by Devonshire. I make no apology for saying again that credit has to be given to both teams for their enthusiasm and effort throughout the game in the most trying of conditions. Well played lads from everyone on the touchline.

Epworth Forest ‘U’ 10’s 0 Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 2 Following defeats in their last two league games Barlestone St Giles got back to winning ways with a comfortable two nil win against Epworth Forest. Having not played for a month, and having had very little training due to the weather, the lads put in their best performance of the season to completely control the game from start to finish. The game itself was played in a swirling wind and on a heavy pitch, however both sides provided an entertaining match for the watching crowd. The first half started with the home side playing with the wind and the slope, however Barlestone did not allow their hosts to settle on the ball and it came as no surprise when they took the lead after five minutes; Zack Storino won the ball on the halfway line and played it forward to Carl Crofts. Carl intelligently drew the keeper off his line before squaring the ball for Tom Devonshire to place into the net for his second goal of the season. Barlestone continued to attack the home goal with Joseph Allen, Carl Crofts and Tommy Mellor linking well up front however a second goal wouldn’t arrive despite a number of half chances. Although having most of the possession Barlestone knew they had to be watchful at the back to hold on to their lead. and, due to good defending, they managed to restrict Epworth to just a couple of long range efforts before half time, which didn’t trouble keeper Pettitt; Jack Richards in particular made a number of solid tackles at crucial times to thwart the opposition. The score-line very nearly became two nil on the stroke of half time when Jack Brown had his shot well saved by the keeper. Barlestone started the second half as they had finished the first, with Allen shooting just wide following a fine through ball from Mellor. Storino along with Brown and Devonshire were completely overrunning Epworth’s midfield and they created further chances; none were taken however as Barlestone possibly became too eager to score. The home side were now reduced to playing counter attacking football, however this came to nothing as defenders Cameron Lightfoot, Dylan Lang and Richards defended solidly, regularly clearing the ball well into the opposition half. It looked like no further goals were going to come but, then in the final minute, Storino scored from a free kick on the corner of the penalty box to make the final score two nil to Barlestone. This performance, as I have said above, was in my opinion the best of the season. Both the manager and the parents realized how well the team had played. It just leaves me to say “Well done lads, keep up the good work and continue to play for one another”.
Cheers

Riverside Kestrels ‘U’ 10’s 3 Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 0 Barlestone St Giles ended the first half of the season with a disappointing away result against Riverside Kestrels, having closely defeated the same opposition a few weeks earlier at home. The result means that Barlestone remain in fourth place in the league but are now seven points behind Riverside. The match itself kicked off with Barlestone electing to play with the wind however, after two minutes, a free kick was awarded to the home side for handball; there looked no danger but, from around twenty yards, the free kick was placed firmly and accurately into the top corner of the goal giving Adam Pettitt no chance. After suffering this early setback, Barlestone fought to get back on level terms however Riverside defended well and, despite the efforts of Jack Brown, Zack Storino and Tom Devonshire to create chances for the forwards, the home side restricted their opponents to the odd corner. Play became end to end but, when called upon, defenders Cameron Lightfoot, Dylan Lang and Jack Richards easily dealt with the home side attacks with Richards, in particular, winning numerous tackles. Chances were few and far between for both sides, however after sixteen minutes the home side stru ck the post with a cross shot and then, just before half time, Barlestone had a chance to draw level when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. Storino struck the ball well, but the defensive wall did its job and, despite appeals for handball, the referee waved play on. The whistle went soon afterwards leaving the home side holding on to their slender lead. The second half started similar to the first when, after four minutes, Barlestone allowed the scorer of Riversides first goal time and space to shoot from outside the area; although the shot was not cleanly struck, it still had enough pace to beat Pettit in goal to give the home side a two nil lead. Barlestone were now up against it but replied immediately with a superb attack that resulted in Devonshire setting up Brown for a shooting chance that just cleared the bar. Both sides were going forward at will, with attackers Tommy Mellor, Joseph Allen and Carl Crofts showing plenty of endeavor and effort. No further chances came until, with five minutes to go, the referee gave Barlestone a penalty for handball outside the area by the home keeper; Storino stepped up to strike the penalty well but the home keeper made a fine save. Soon afterwards the Riverside goal-scorer completed his hat trick to give the home side a three goal cushion and make the game safe. There was just time left for Lightfoot to venture forward at a corner and see his goal bound shot blocked from six yards out before the final whistle went. Although the team were disappointed with the result, they can be proud of what they have achieved in their first seven games in this higher division. The second half of the season can now be looked forward to with optimism. With the New Year coming upon us it is left for me to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All.
Cheers

Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 1 Riverside Kestrels ’U’ 10’s 0 Barlestone St Giles welcomed Riverside Kestrels in a rearranged league game on Sunday, with both sides looking to close the gap on the two leading teams in the division. The visitors had not been beaten in their three league games to date, so Barlestone knew that a tough match was in store. The match kicked off with the visitors having the benefit of a strong wind in their favour and, after only fifteen seconds, hit the bar with a long range dipping shot from the left, the rebound being scrambled against the post before the ball was gratefully collected by keeper Adam Pettit. Riverside were using the wind to great effect during these early stages with further shots from long range whistling just past the post; they also won a number of corners following last ditch tackles from Jack Richards, Dylan Lang and Tommy Mellor, however their pressure came to nothing and gradually Barlestone began to play their way back into the game. The home side started to play with more confidence and when Zack Storino won the ball in midfield, he played the ball up the left wing to Carl Crofts whose pace had worried the opposition on a couple of previous occasions; he jinked past two players before squaring the ball to Jack Brown who calmly placed the ball past the keeper to put Barlestone 1-0 in front. Against the strong wind, the midfield trio of Brown, Tom Devonshire and Storino continued to pass the ball around the opposition resulting in further chances before half time for Crofts, Mellor and Joseph Allen, however the keeper saved the visitors on each occasion. The second half started similar to the first when, from just outside the box, a Riverside forward created space for himself and curled a shot towards the top corner; it looked a goal all the way but Pettit had other ideas and dived full length to pull off a great save and turn the ball away for a corner. The visitors then piled on the pressure but Cameron Lightfoot, Richards and Lang kept to their positions and, along with the defensive work of the midfield and tackling back of forwards Allen and Crofts, frustrated the opposition time and time again restricting them to half chances. During a hectic final ten minutes both teams tried their hardest to create chances but the windy conditions made life increasingly difficult and the final whistle came to the obvious relief of the home side. Mainly due to the conditions this was not a game for the connoisseur. However, the effort and hard work given by the lads in grinding out a great result against a side who will surely be near the top of the division at the end of the season was not underestimated by anybody at the game. Well done lads !!

Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 3 Netherhall Diamonds ’U’ 10’s 0 After last weeks entertaining draw with Epworth Forest, Barlestone St Giles were hoping to extend their unbeaten league run to three games with a game against visitors Netherhall Diamonds, who had won one and lost one of their two league games to date. On a cold wet day it was obvious that conditions would be testing, with a swirling wind and a wet pitch making ball control difficult. From the kick off Barlestone went straight for the visitors looking for an early goal and it was no surprise when, after four minutes, Zak Storino won the ball in midfield and threaded the ball through to Joseph Allen who finished coolly into the bottom right hand corner of the goal to make it 1-0. Shortly afterwards the Netherhall keeper, who played well throughout the game, made a good save from Carl Crofts as Barlestone continued pressing for the second goal. The visitors then began to work their way back into the game with some neat passing through midfield to their forwards but the tenacity of the midfield of Jack Brown, Tom Devonshire and Storino together with solid tackling by Jack Richards, Dylan Lang and Cameron Lightfoot restricted the visitors to a couple of chances; Adam Pettit having to make a trademark save with his feet from one of them. Midway through the half the lead was extended when Allen set up Crofts, whose shot was well saved by the keeper; the ball, however, fell kindly for Allen who put away the chance for his second goal of the game. The visiting keeper then had to make two fine saves at the feet of forwards to keep the score at 2-0 as Barlestone kept attacking until half time. Netherhall started the second half strongly and Pettit needed to make a smart save from one effort. It wasn’t long, however, before the score was 3-0 when Storino, on yet another of his rampaging runs, played a well weighted through ball to Lightfoot who scored at the second attempt, after his initial shot was well saved by the keeper. The pitch was becoming heavier by the minute but Barlestone’s midfield of Brown, Devonshire, Mellor and Storino kept driving forward. They caused numerous problems for the visiting defence but were not rewarded with further goals mainly due to the visiting keeper. The closest Barlestone came to a goal was when, with five minutes to go, Mellor nearly scored at the far post and then from a late Mellor corner, a visiting defender headed against his own crossbar. With the home side committing players forward throughout the half, Netherhall had chances to reduce the deficit however Richards and Lang remained solid in defence and, together with Pettit who had another sound game, kept the visitors out. Well done lads for a fine win under difficult conditions.
Cheers

Barlestone St Giles YFC ‘U’ 10’s 4 Epworth Forest ‘U’ 10’s 4 Barlestone St Giles and Epworth Forest served up an eight goal thriller in an entertaining game at Barlestone today. The visitors arrived with a 100% record, and hadn’t conceded a goal in their three league games to date, so Barlestone knew that they were in for a hard game. Barlestone kicked off and stunned Epworth when they scored after only 10 seconds when Zak Storino drove through the centre to set up Tommy Mellor who finished coolly. Epworth quickly equalised to make it 1-1, however Barlestone were moving the ball around well and Joseph Allen hit the post before putting his side ahead following good work by Jack Brown. Midway through the half it became 3-1 when, from a Carl Crofts through ball, there was a mix up in the Epworth defence allowing a simple tap in for Allen. At this point Barlestone’s midfield of Tom Devonshire, Jack Brown and Zak Storino were winning the battle in the middle of the park and creating chances for the forwards. Epworth then raised their game and started to pressure the Barlestone defence but Dylan Lang, Jack Richards and Cameron Lightfoot tackled hard and, together with goalkeeper Adam Pettit who made a fine save with his feet, kept the visitors out until half time. The second half had barely started before Epworth pulled a goal back, and they soon made it 3-3 with another well worked goal. Although the visitors were now on top, Barlestone did not allow their heads to drop and continued to fight for every ball. From one of their attacks midway through the half Barlestone forced a corner from which Mellor’s delivery went into the goal off a defender to give Barlestone the lead once more. The next few minutes were frantic with goalkeeper Pettit having to make three excellent saves to keep out Epworth. However, the pressure eventually told and, with seven minutes to go, Epworth equalised with a shot that gave the keeper no chance. The remainder of the game was end to end with both sides trying hard to get the winner, Epworth coming closest when, in the last minute, a free kick was again brilliantly kept out by Pettit for a corner.

Thringstone Vs B.St.G.Y.F.C. 5-10-08 1-1 Draw
The game got off to a good start, it hadn't stopped raining all night but the conditions were perfect. Barlestone were on Thringstone right from the off Ryan Martin's chance provided by Kieran Percival forced a early save from Thringstones keeper. Thringstone replied straight away forcing keeper Ryan Dagley into a very good stop. Play was going all Barlestones way, Thringstone not being allowed out of there own half, Marco Storino's shot in the 7th min looked sure to be going in, it beat the keeper but not the upright. Play was still going Barlestones way, Barlestone just couldn't profit from there chances, nearly paying the price when Thringstone made a break from a lovely ball floated high over Barlestones defence down the right wing saw there striker wide open with acres of space, and like a bolt of lightning from out of nowhere George Pickering came steaming across the box and dispossessed Thringstone's striker. Barlestone's defence of Luke Dagley, Jordan Haddon, George Pickering and Kyle Hardy were on fire today not making any mistakes at all, another chance for Thringstone half way through the first half, was met by an aerobatic save from R.Dagley pushing it wide of the post. On the break from Tringstones corner Barlestone were back where they had been for most of the game in Thringstone's half putting pressure on and surging forward, a sloppy clearance from Thringstone's defence allowed M.Storino to pick the ball up go round 2 players and score in the 17th min, 1-0 Barlestone. Barlestone were growing in confidence and shots were flying everywhere, Barlestones mid and strike force of R. Martin, M. Storino, Vaughan Howkins, K. Percival, Stephan Storino, Sam Foster and Sam Jennings were enjoying most of the play, although another good ball from Thringstone just the same as before high and wide, saw keeper R. Dagley produce one of his best saves ever, he was diving up and back and forced Thringstone's shot over the bar. Percival was to have two cracking shots denied just before half time, both from about 30 yards out, one was stopped by Thringstones keeper producing a very good save indeed, and his second came off the under side of the crossbar. Second half started and Barlestone seemed a little subdued, and allowed Thringstone a chance in the opening min it was sure to be going in if not for excellent tackle of Haddon to put a stop top there advances. The game went fairly quiet for the second half and Barlestone sat back a little bit inviting the challenges. Pickering was to keep Barlestone in the game with a goal line clearance in the 103rd min. Thringstone were pushing forward and pressuring Barlestone a cross from the right wing from Thringstone delivered into the box, was hand balled, this awarded Thringstone a life line with 3 mins left to play, they did capitalise from it 1 all. Barlestone were not to take this lying down and immediately started making more chances forcing Thringstone back and making there keeper work very hard, A controversial decision in the final min, a well executed dink from Percival to the feet of S. Storino volleyed it past 2 defenders and the keeper piecing the back of the net, was declared off side. The day finished 1 all. Well done Again lads the first half was Excellent, real football from a real team, but if you don't attack and sit back, you're always giving the opposition a foot in the door, and with out the second goal it's easy for them to get back in the game. It was also very nice that you didn't argue with the ref and got on with the football no matter what his decisions are, that shows real sportsman qualities well done again lads Marc and Jeff

B.St.G.Y.F.C Vs Royce Rangers 2005 28-09-08 Win for Barlestone 9-4
Things didn't get off to a very good start for Barlestone, conceding to early goals to Ranger's in the 1st and 6th min. Barlestone looked rattled but retaliated with to immediate identical goals from Kieran Percival both shots provided by Marco Storino playing Percival in down the right wing for him to smash home both goals from 22yrds, out tight on the wing in the 6th and 7th min. Barlestone started to look confident and another goal 2 mins later saw Stephan Storino open up his account, from a well placed pass from Ryan Martin straight through Rangers defence. Rangers were not going to take this lying down though, and replied with an equaliser almost instantly, making it 3 all with only 10 mins played, it could of gone either way. Barlestone were looking hungry for more, and chances were fling in from everywhere piling on the pressure and playing in Ranger's half, leaving Barlestones defence of Kyle Hardy, Luke Dagley, George Pickering and Sam Foster very little to do, Ranger's last chance of the half saw sub keeper Jordan Haddon tested to full with a goal line clearance. It wasn't to be long for Barlestone scored again, M. Storino provided Percival with his hatrick with 4 mins of the half left to play. Percival was to turn provider moments later with cross for S. Storino to tap it home, half time 5-3. Barlestone started as they finished and the midfield of Frankie Armsden, Ryan Martin, Sam Jennings, Percival, the Storino's were constantly harassing and pressing the ball, a goal in the 1st min of play saw S. Storino claim his Hatrick, again provided by Percival. S. Storino was to get his 4 th of the day, mopping up the spillage of M. Storino's shot witch was provided by Jennings beautifully weighted pass down the middle of Ranger's defence, with 9 mins of the second half played. The on slought continued the chances were thick and fast and Percival's cross across the box saw S. Storino claim his 5th and final goal of the day 8 -3 with 10 mins left to play. M.Storino managed to capitalise from a poor clearance making it 9-3, moments later he had two more opportunities denied a shot at the keeper saw an impressive save the ball spilled back out to M. Storino for another go but the saved this as well played the straight up the field, Ranger's Striker caught Barlestone's defence on a lucky Break and claimed a late goal to finish the day off 9- 4 to Barlestone. Sorry lads there was too many chances to list them all. Well lads another top game we are really gelling as a team, with the efforts you pit in today, you definitely deserved the win keep up the good work Marc and Jeff.
